It was typical 1st game between two talented teams.

On D:
Our DL imposed their will from the 2nd quarter on, but did not generate a consistent 4 man pass rush. My concern for this group remains unchanged, barring injury it will be difficult to run on us but we will likely need to blitz to create consistent pressure on a QB.

The young LB's were out of position a lot, but they are significantly more athletic than the guys who took the majority of the snaps last year. My concern for this position group went from worried to cautiously confident.

The DB's were exactly what I expected. They are really good, but not great. My concern for this group is connected to the pass rush issues.

On O:
I knew Bo was a gamer with talent, but it was nice to see how he handled himself in game. I realize it will get tougher and he'll make mistakes but my confidence in this position is much higher than preseason, but still reflects the reality that he is a Frosh. I'd like to see some Tebow 2006 like packages for Gatewood.

I was disappointed in the use of RB's. Whitlow is a legit SEC back, but we still have no reasonably obvious 2nd punch. My concern for this group is higher than it was preseason.

Our OL was a disappointment, but not a surprise. They played better but the difference between a championship run and 8 or 9 wins is on them. They have to get better. My concern was high, but it is actually higher now.

Our skill guys were great. Other than some blocking issues I am confident that if given the opportunity to get the ball they will pose a headache for opposing DC's. My concern for this group has always been low and nothing has changed.

On ST:
Baby Carlson isn't clutch like his brother. My concern is slighter higher than before but he is still a great kicker. As an Auburn fan we have unrealistically high expectations out of this position due to past players performances. Coverage teams were terrible and my concern went from non existence to worrying if they don't improve that they will cost us a close game down the road.

Overall:
Oregon was a good team and highly motivated. We made the plays and dominated more of the game than the score reflected thanks to our own ineptitude. Winning that game was huge because it is obvious we can play much, much better. We still have to go to LSU and Florida plus play uga and bama. Not to mention we sprinkle A&M and MSU into the mix. My confidence that the pieces to navigate that gauntlet are in place still remain optimistic, but a few injuries or a bad break will reveal how thin our margin for error is this season.
