Not that I'd expect you to understand since A&M literally never contends for football championships, but yes, that is how they were decided.
Alabama, the team your fanbase worships and looks up to as one of your new step-fathers, still claims the 1964 "consesus national champion" title despite losing the Orange Bowl against your birth father, Texas.
Alabama was named number 1 before they played their bowl game... And lost. Literally. And was still named national champion. Literally.

They did a lot of other dumb shite back in 1964. Doesn't legitimize your fake national championship anymore just cuz bama did it. They fixed it for a reason. You literally cannot be the national champion if you lose your bowl game. Literally
