AUBURN, Alabama — Auburn rewarded two walk-on football players with scholarships at the conclusion of preseason camp Monday.
Defensive back Devin Guice and receiverJames Owens Moss were recognized in front of the team and rewarded with scholarships Monday following the first day of fall classes on campus.

"You scholarship guys, I want you to really have an appreciation not just for the guys we're able to put on scholarship, but the guys you all know who has been a great teammate ,a great scout team person, always there," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn told the team.

"They're paying their own crap. A lot of these guys have to work during the summer, some have to work in the spring and even during the fall."

Malzahn also recognized fullback Spencer Nigh, who he said was placed on scholarship earlier in the year.

The addition of the three walkons to the scholarship list bumps Auburn up to 85 scholarship players for the 2019 season, which is the limit allowed by the NCAA.

Owens Moss worked with the second-team offense at times in preseason camp as four potential starters sat out resting injuries. Nigh is expected to play at fullback on offense as a backup this season.

Auburn has not yet released a practice schedule this week, but the Tigers are expected to return to practices Tuesday on campus. The No. 16 Tigers open the season against N0. 11 Oregon at the home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas on Aug. 31.

Kickoff time is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC. It is the only Week 1 game featuring two ranked opponents.
