If you listen to the second half of the press conference, it seems he is making a big deal about growth as the season goes on. Even says he isn't worried about execution, that will come, but worried about how they respond to adversity. Mentions multiple time the product at the end of the year will be different than the 24th.

Going against a Florida team that's 85% upperclass (starters) with the staff returning 78% of its coaches and over 80% of its starters with an HC that has 20 years with his offensive staff, 10 years at the HC position (in the SEC West, mind you) -- I would be making a contingency plan, too.

Actually that presser is a lot better than the interview you gave right after practice to a Cane sports rag and was sweating bullets. He admitted the offense was not good.

They just posted a video on Twitter with a WR - DB drill and the WR looked horrendous.

Their offense is completely broken.

Actually miamuh could easily win 8-9 games this year with their powder puff schedule..

Florida
@ N Carolina
Bethune Cookman
Central Michigan
Virginia
Ga Tech
@ Pitt
@ Florida St
Louisville
@ FIU
@ Duke

They don't play Clemson unless they play them in prestigious acccg and they could win their division.

Yea they could.

I'd go

L
W
W
W
L
W
L
W
W
W
L

8-4 for Miami.

The better they do, the better it makes us look. Especially if they progress during the year.

It wont be because of their offense getting better..its the joke of a schedule.

We could be 12-0 with that bevy of cupcakes.

If Dan lost more than 1 game on that joke of a schedule he would be on the hot seat here

I am convinced that Manny knows little about the basics for a defense.

I think he knows a defense, but kind of strikes me the same way Muschamp did early on.
Good D coach, but becomes a HC and doesn’t know how to handle it and tries to compensate elsewhere and struggles.
We shall see though.

That is a rough comparison because Muschamp was a really good D coordinator.

Manny was a pretty mediocre defensive coordinator, too. Look at that Bowl Game. His defense completely gave up on him.

I just don't think he's going to be able to run a P5 program like Miami -- it was a really "meh" hire for them. I just hope we don't turn the ball over and play smart football. Do that and we win jogging.

Last year they averaged number 1 in the nation in "havoc" and number 2 in YPG allowed I believe.

That's pretty good. They're defense isn't a paper tiger. It's overrated a bit because of schedule though. I'd say ours has a better secondary, they have a better group of linebackers, and Dline is about even.

They gave up 333 yards on the ground in the last game of the year.

I'm perfectly content calling them a paper tiger.

Our defense giving up so many yards in the beginning of the year just lends credence that adjusting in the beginning is one of the hardest things to do as a new HC of a school or in general.

We would have run through the ACC last year, Miami would have been run over by the SEC.

2012 Florida got raped by Louisville.

Did that mean that defense was bad too?

Bowl games are sometimes outliers, not the main story.

You're just arguing to argue.

Comparing 11 - 1 to 7 - 5 is just stupid.

We lost by one possession to Georgia after we fumbled in the red zone and lost by 10 points to Louisville.

Miami got the frick beaten out of them by 4 touchdowns vs. Wisconsin.

Beaten by Boston College (7 - 5 no bowl) by two touchdowns.

Beaten by fricking Virginia. DUKE. Georgia Tech (7 - 6).

Those years aren't even remotely comparable so I'm not sure what your point was.

Dude...holy frick. Where the frick did I say anything about their offense, or total team? I said their defense. You yap to much and don't even pay attention to what is being said.

Miami's defense IS good. Saying otherwise is being absolutely deluded. Their S+P which accounts for their opponents is higher than ours was. So saying their defense isn't good, is saying ours wasn't either.

Miami isn't a great team, but they have a very good defense. Saying otherwise is delusional.

They have an okay defense that got absolutely fricked whenever they played one of the middling or good teams last year.

LSU stopped their offense because they were up 27 - 3 at half and ran conservative -- LSU could have easily had 500 yards.

Wisconsin ran at will against their defense.

Boston College also got 223 yards.

They are mediocre at best and benefited from playing an absolute garbage schedule.

Also you need to check your S+P numbers because Florida's P5 opponents' record was way higher.

10 - 3
5 - 7
11 - 3
7 - 6
10 - 3
8 - 5
8 - 5
6 - 7
5 - 7
10 - 3

77 - 49

Miami's P5 opponents:

10 - 3
2 - 9
5 - 7
8 - 5
7 - 5
7 - 6
8 - 5
7 - 7
8 - 5
6 - 7

68 - 59.

Them boys are straight dogshit, we played more 10 win teams than their entire conference combined.

Our defense would look incredible if we played shite teams every single week -- and the only reason their S+P is higher is because they played shitty G5 teams instead of FCS teams.

Just stop prostrating, none of the Miami fans are going to give you a hand job.

To say he was mediocre is a compliment to him. He basically got fired on the flight home when his defense was crushed by BYU in 2013.
