Long-Term, yes.
However short-term I can say that every time Trump tweets in regards to China the market will react.
It's scary how much power twitter has gained by Trump's usage.

Agree to disagree. Policy had little to do with it, however, consumer confidence affects the markets in spades. Companies and investors know it's unlikely massive tax hikes, regulations, or interest rate changes will occur while the Cheeto is in charge.

I understand that, but they still get credit for it whether it is justified or not. They also tend to get the blame for a bad or stagnate economy.
That said, Trump did get rid of a lot of regulations Obama put on industry that hindered companies, and that allows them to make more money and see stocks rise.
He also torpedoed some trade agreements that were not good for industry.
Do they have a direct affect on the stock market? no. Do they have ancillary effects? yes.
