Players can finance these. I know. I financed for players in the past when I was in car sales years ago.
Cars are not hard to get anymore. They can show enough money in and very little expenses. So that isn't shocking to see decent cars when they have free food, room and board, etc.

You are correct. It is who is actually making the payments is the thing.
