Here are a few things I heard over the weekend ahead of the unofficial kickoff of football season.

-- Wide receivers Jameson Williams and Christian Leary were both impressive on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both wideouts made plays for the second team, and Williams was bumped up to the ones on Thursday. We've consistently heard that Williams has turned heads since arriving on campus, but Leary seems to be coming on of late.

-- For anyone still wondering, freshman running back Camar Wheaton is indeed on campus, and he had a really impressive week, according to one source. That same source had high praise for Jase McClellan and Trey Sanders -- the latter of which is good news to hear considering what Sanders has dealt with over the last two years.

-- The team will 7-on-7 on Tuesday-Thursday over the next couple of weeks before the start of fall camp, which is slated for Thursday, Aug. 5.
