that's the very definition of hitting another gear. You're right, the DB had a textbook picture perfect angle. 99 tiems out of 100 he closes in and at the very least pushes the ball carrier out of bounds. But Herschel had world class speed (he beat carl lewis in a track meet once) and the dude had no chance.

I remember that play. Glad I was alive to see him and other great players play.

Herschel was the best to ever suit up in our beloved conference and I will admit it.

I would argue the entire NCAA, but I am sure there are other arguments.
