Also not impressive is that OU was in a pretty weak conference. Heck, for that matter OU is still in a pretty weak conference.

Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak was accomplished against schedules that had a grand total of 18 teams with a winning record. Only 3 of which won as many as 8 games, those being 1956 Colorado (8-2-1), 1955 Maryland (10-1) in the '56 Orange Bowl, and 1953 Maryland (10-1) in the '54 Orange Bowl. Four of the 18 were 5-4-1.
