Can someone please explain how 5 of the 6 teams can have a below .500 record against each other? Mathematically, if half win, half lose, so how can 5 of the 6 have losing records against each other?

Because Alabama, to a large degree, has laid the lumber on y'all. I think that combined with Not Big But Not Little 5 tending to split the games against one another bumps everyone down a bit.

That or the guy who came up with this was drinking heavily. They are both equally likely answers.

As Arksulli pointed out, it’s mostly because the 5 schools that aren’t Alabama have relatively competitive records against each other but Alabama has an absurd advantage against all of them which drags all their win % down.
