Neyland was a hell of a coach. Funny story about an old guy who played for him. Tommy Jumper. He said he was a RB in high school and UT told him he was the only one they were recruiting and put on the dog for him so he signed. Showed up for 1st day of practice and their were 21 running backs! Well over a 100 freshmen. LOL! But an assistant was separating them all by positions and called him to a bigger group of 24 guys...guards! He was shocked and looked up his recruiting coach after practice. The coach looked him in the eye and said "Son, I don't even remember your name. Further don't you say a single word to me for one year except yes sir and no sir and if you are still here after a year I'll learn your name." He (Mr Jumper) told me this story directly.
