Wow, smart move. Guarantee of 7 mil. Who's to say he would have ever made it out of the minors? 6 years only makes him 25 when his contract is up.

I would see more American kids get opportunities to play pro ball in other countries so they aren't forced to go to college because it is their only option. This includes all sports if there is a market for it.

I didn't read it was guaranteed in the article and I also heard that he has to complete the entire 6 years to receive the full amount.
The Japanese minor leagues don't screw around from my understanding...their training and conditioning are far more stringent than MLB.
