Don’t think it’s the firearms issue. Mostly wondering why someone wants to open carry like they’re buffalo bill. If is an odd thing to do IMO.

Historically speaking Buffalo Bill and the Old West didn't open carry. That is an idea we get from the Westerns. Most every frontier town had gun control laws that would make a super liberal jealous today.

With good reason. You get a bunch trappers, miners, cowboys, and general vermin coming into your town to tie one on and bother the prostitutes the last thing you want to do is let them carry around guns.

Did folks openly carry in some towns? Sure they did. Usually because the Sheriff was too scared to take their guns. Most anywhere with a decent police presence it was expected that you turn in your guns when you came into town and that you got them when you left.

The famous Shootout at the OK Corral happened because some cowboys refused to hand over their guns while they were in town and it went poorly for them.

As for open carry today... I strongly support licensing and training for anyone who wants to carry a gun. Be it openly or concealed. If we make people prove they can drive a car before we give them a license then we should make them prove they can handle a gun without shooting their pecker off.

Or worse, shooting my pecker off.

Until that becomes the case I am in favor of gun control. I.E. if there are guns near me I want them to be under my control. I know I won't do something stupid with them.

I'm fine with gun ownership, in fact I can put my hands on one right now without getting up from the desk. But if you are going to be carrying one around me I want to be sure that you know what you are doing with that thing.

Stop making sense.

As i said in a previous post. In the state of Louisiana, you need nothing more than a pulse and a clean record to openly carry a gun. That's it, that's all.
