The current generation is the product of previous generations. If the new generation is good, or bad, or some combination of those 2 things, it's in large part because of the values instilled by the previous generation, along with the environment in which it has grown up. The environment in which a generation grows up is itself a product of the previous generations.

So, if the current generation is screwed up, it's in large part because of the failings of the previous generation, which themselves are in large part due to the generation before that, and so on.

Unfortunately, you are correct.
Imo, the country voted in liberal politicians, allowed them to structure progressive, socialistic laws and regulations for governing with the explosion of the welfare system being its crown jewel. Yes, we older Americans are to blame in all this...for being so lazy and stupid when it came to this countries future....and while you young folks are the product of it, there are still plenty of you who were raised right and can do something about cleaning up after the mistakes of your elders. Start in your school system (academia) and go from there....do it for your kids. It'll be the best gift that you can give'em!
