Richt and Van Gorder were a great duo. They recruited playmakers on their side of the ball and it got them two SEC championships.
But BVG was too ambitious for his own good while Richt could never make solid staff hires after the fact. Smart just makes better business decisions between the two.

If it's national title or bust, then everyone in D1 football has failed outside of 3 teams from 2011-. That's a lot of teams having failures of a season.
