Maximum Security's interference was worse than Auburn's if that makes you feel better.

That was totally Tennessee vs. UNC in the Music City Bowl. The rules were so fricked up that they were changed by the NCAA later. Same thing will happen here but it won't help Maximum Security or his jockey.
quote:
Aftermath
Because of the 4th quarter situation in which North Carolina's foul stopped the clock, a rule change was made effective beginning with the 2011 season. The new rule calls for a 10-second runoff to be assessed in addition to any yardage penalty when the offense commits a foul that causes a clock stoppage, unless the penalized team opts to take a time out.[6]
Two years later, the NCAA adopted additional rules stipulating that at least three seconds must be left in the half for a team to spike the ball and stop the clock for another play. That rule would not have applied here because the game clock was not stopped prior to the ball being marked ready for play. A couple plays earlier, North Carolina gained a first down which stopped the clock with 19 seconds remaining. It was started when the ball was marked ready for play. That's the situation where the 3-second rule would have applied if there were fewer than 3 seconds remaining.

Yeah but his interference didn't bother the horse that benefited.

Anybody want to chip in for a billboard?

But it did cost other horses from maybe a place or show if not a win!

If the name of the horse is Maximum Security then that’s probably Georgia of the derby.

True, but it did affect other horses that might have. I mean War at Will was charging when this happened, might have taken the lead.

I agree.

Which was harder to see, a DD or a horse bumping another on a wet track ? I wonder if a Rec Steward would have called the DQ, because 99% of the Rec Officals would have called the DD.

I agree. Really, I take issue with how slimy the owner of the declared winner came across. I don't like the fact that he was no where near winning that race yet something that had nothing to do with his horse being impeded made him a winner.

So give the win to War At Will
This is why horse racing sucks...next to boxing as easily fixed sports

Feel bad for the jockey, got interviewed before the inquiry was posted.

Maximum Security won so convincingly that I wish they'd have just rerun the race at a later time/date and given MS a penalty (say he starts the next rerun with 2-3 more pounds than everyone else as a penalty). It would've given the horses that were effected a fair shot and not given us a winner that wasn't even close (he was more than a length and a half behind) and had to rely on a DQ to win.
You couldn't do that every horse race but for the Kentucky Derby there should be a better solution than what happened.

Had this been a Wednesday claimer that inquiry would have been ignored. However, it was the right call for the Derby.

Just curious but when the Stewarts at the Kentucky Derby aren't looking at replays of a race are they refereeing Saints games???

In the meantime, the Bama of dog racing was being simulcast at the Birmingham Dog track.
