The hey day of college basketball is sinking fast...The rise of "play for play' and 'one and done' has ruined the game for most of the casual fans. Who can related to the whirl of players dropping in for a season if the money is right and then gone...most of whom will never have much of a career if any in the nba or europe.

Meanwhile, on campus thousands of STUDENTS are up late hours studying after finishing up at their jobs they have to have to help with their tuition, fees, books, room and board....And will graduate with significant student loan debt!

Cry me a fricking river. I played a sport in college (partial scholarship) and had every ounce of my day used up. I regret none of it.

There will always be college hoops
the one and done era can't end soon enough
The G league will be the fall back league for those fringe NBA players to toil in

I completely disagree. I actually think that in about 15 years college basketball will take college football's place as the elite amateur sport. With the concussion issue taking over football, it won't be near as big of a deal to our nation as it is now.

Don't see what's so bad about the players just playing for plays sake.

If football disappears, nothing will take it's place. People who don't like college basketball now aren't going to start liking it just because football goes away.

This is a histrionic take.

One will graduate with very little debt if he/she chooses to remain in-state on scholarship.

I am not sure that it is - sports evolve as society evolves. I mean, back in the 20s and 30s boxing and horse racing were two of the largest sports in the U.S. No one really cares about either sport anymore.

There are 351 Division 1 schools. No more than 60 players will be drafted in the NBA draft. I will cut you some slack since you are obviously about 12. You were not alive before 2006.

I hope so.
