I wonder if these teams that left their traditional conference will suffer from it long term. I understand why they did it, but I just can't imagine a kid growing up in Kansas City getting really into SEC football.

I am one of those kids. Currently 32. TBH since the move to the SEC Mizzou football in the Kansas City area is not that big of deal like it was when we were playing our rivals every week. In the Mid 2000s with Gary Pinkel coaching we could feel up Arrowhead almost to capacity with ease. Now I am not to sure how full the stadium would be. My friends and I used to get together for every Mizzou football game and at least attend one game a year. Nothing like that happens at all anymore. It's a sad situation. A lot of people lost interest when we switched to the SEC. If we put out a good product and win a lot I am sure some bandwagon fans will come out and enjoy the games again. Even my father stopped following the football games. Not sure if we will ever fully recover from such a move. Great financially, but I am not sure they forecasted what it would do to the fanbase.

Also the Royals and Chiefs success lately has always trumped anything Mizzou. Not sure what the St. Louis side is like. I hear it is more Mizzou Alumni friendly over on that side of the state.
