Michael James doesn’t quite know who he is going to commit to on Sept. 9, so it is rather impossible to credibly pick his ultimate selection. Texas A&M was the first program to prioritize him, which he reciprocated with an extended unofficial visit last year.

Much has changed since then, including his breakout nationally which has brought elite programs into his recruitment. Cincinnati has garnered some talk with him, as has Alabama, Louisville, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech.

Big risers in the updated Top247 for 2021

quote:

Name: Hunter Sallis

New Ranking: No. 6

Old Ranking: No. 25

College interest: Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Oregon, Creighton, Indiana, Gonzaga, Louisville, Alabama, UCLA, Auburn, Michigan, Iowa State

When it comes to the five-star range, no one made a bigger jump than did Sallis. The native of Nebraska has had a huge rise over the last 12 months, and he took things to an even higher level this summer during some showcase opportunities.

Sallis has an impressive combination of size, skill and athleticism, and the scary part is, he doesn't even seem to realize just how good he is. Once Sallis takes the next step to becoming an alpha on the court, things will go to an ever higher level.

Currently, Sallis plays on or off the ball. While he needs to continue to get stronger, that will clearly come in time with natural physical growth and maturity. Once that added strength does come, Sallis should be one of the most difficult players in the country to defend one-on-one, and in a game that is clearly leaning to dynamic guards who can score and make plays with the dribble, there is a good chance that Sallis can find a way to crack the top five before it is all said and done.

Name: Jonas Aidoo

Old Ranking: Not Ranked

New Ranking: No. 89

Colleges Involved: Clemson, Providence, Houston, Virginia Tech, Miami, Alabama, Pittsburgh

In a class short on legit bigs, Aidoo is someone who emerged and proved worthy of high-major offers and interest this summer. He is a legit 6-foot-10 with athleticism, length and a solid skill set. While he needs to continue to be a more consistent rebounder, he is capable and at times he looks tremendous at the glass. With Aidoo, the rebounding is a function of going to the glass every possession. When he does that, he becomes a more complete big man.

With his size and length on the court, Aidoo has some ability to protect the rim, shows some pick and pop potential, and then also can run the floor very well. With his game just now rounding into form, it appears that some growth could be left for him to go even higher. For now, being a four-star was needed, and Aidoo is someone who college coaches are beginning to really zero in on when it comes to his recruitment.
