Ever going to be a re-surge of classic motels?

Sitting here watching “Rain Man”, and when they stay at the old motel with the neon, it brought back memories of staying in motels like that as a kid on vacation.
A couple summers ago, I stayed at the Blue Swallow Motel on Route 66, in Tucumcari, NM. It was like stepping back into the 70’s (or even earlier).

Is there some website or list of re-vamped motels across the US?

The business model has just changed. Folks are either tribal (Marriott, Starwood, Hilton, etc.) or shop solely on price (Hotels.com, Travelocity, etc.).

So, the brand normalization and pricing for the segment are all that matters to the corporate giants, not a fancy sign to pull people off the road with their flashing "VACANCY" sign.

Love those places, mainly for the nostalgia. Always stopped in places like that when I was a kid.

We just has this thread a few weeks ago. Not sure if here or on OT.

Check out Valley Ho if you are ever in Scottsdale.

Awesome place to spend July 4th. Hot as balls but they have a big pool party, nice cabana suites, a rooftop bar with 360° views of the valley for fireworks, and heavy discounts.
