That's right. I'm with you, shun Southern heritage because it is stupid and full of ignorance.
Strive to be what you aren't and to imitate those that are not you so that you can attempt to blend into a group of which you don't belong.
Use more terms like youse and yinz and you all and try to seem like you have never been in the South, that way you can please those that you feel are better than you.
Try not to allow your inferiority complex to swallow your meaningless life in the meantime, though.
