You are saying that a reporter couldn't have mixed up some words in a frenzy to make deadline? Contrary to what you've seen on TV and in movies, newspaper reporters don't spend days or even weeks working on a story and checking their facts. They are actually grinding out a dozen a day while sucking down shite coffee and chain smoking. Then their editors chop it all up to make it fit exactly in the alotted inches of the physical paper. Then someone totally different writes the headline. The simple fact the word "gravel" made it into the story is meaningless, especially in the face of the fact Avery referred to "the pit" as part of his own property in the same story, toward the end.

It's possible that two different reporters just happened to make the same mistake.

It's also possible that the Rav4 was found twice--initially in the gravel quarry near ASY before being planted on ASY property closer to Steven Avery.
