That may be, but your username is similar to some other users here, too similar.
I want to believe you but thus far the evidence points the other way

Ok sure, how about this? I live in Mayfield Kentucky which is west ky. They went to a state championship in football class 2a( only classes are in football). Game was in Lexington. Lost but still fun. Basketball is going pretty strong district championship on Tuesday. Need any more?

Ok. But back to the thread. Say that a team that classifies as 1a in football could meet up with a 6a team in the playoffs

Would be ugly. I witnessed my own former high school (3A) get blown out by 50 pts by a school that moved up to 4A the next season.
Things can get bad quick and its for the best to keep those schools from playing each other, as 1A is highly unlikely to win state against a 6A school

I know it was open when I lived there from 1999 through 2004. As far as I know, it still is.

I don't know anything about Kentucky high school basketball, but going to the state association web site it appears to be open.
16 Regions, with 4 Districts per Region (64 total), with mostly 4 schools per district. KHSAA

Yeah that's weird to me. We have the same divisions in baseball as we do in football in SC. 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and what's known as "The Big 5" which is obviously 5A.
ThatGuy...how many divisions do y'all have in football in Kentucky?

Kentucky has 1A all the way up to 6A

They have 1A to 6A in football. You can't have open classes in football, would be totally unbalanced. In basketball one very gifted player can carry a whole team.

Yep. Zion did it at his high school here in SC. He did it all.
