Mark Farmer.

Wimp Sanderson's first recruit as HC at Bama. Mark was the unsung hero of Bama's defeat of #1 ranked UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on 01/28/1983, the day the school buried Coach Bryant. Completely shut down UCLA's 7'Center-Stuart Gray. Following is from link below.

“Mark Farmer never started,” Sanderson said. “I think about it now, and I can hardly believe I took Mark Farmer out there and started him against UCLA. A funny thing about it, though, was I told him that he ought to be excited because both TV sets in Arab would be on. We got a good laugh out of that.”

That was Mark's first of 11 starts in his Bama career. Bama was 11-0 in those starts. If he had the killer instinct you speak of, he would have started most, if not all, of his Bama games. He did play some in Europe after Bama, but never made it to the NBA.

Edit: Bittersweet to write that. Mark Farmer is my Son-in-Law
