There is a specific reason Texas and Florida are two of the top 3.

No state Income Tax...

That is .the reason Dallas for example has Exxon, Frito Lay, Verizon, etc etc etc and most PGA golfers live in Texas or Florida.

They dont pay state income tax on their sizable income.... Reason Toyota move to Dallas Area from California. Cost of living and Tax burden relief.

As a person who moved from Texas after 20 years to Georgia. State income tax sucks.

Tennessee doesn't have one either, which, I think, is fueling a lot of the healthcare and automotive industry growth here. The only tax on personal income we have is the Hall tax, which is a tax on investments. By 2021, that tax will be phased out.

A good portion of the companies started in Texas.
Some like ConocoPhillips moved from Oklahoma.
Not because of income tax but to be better connected.

Tennessee has no State income tax either. But all the States around us do. Our Constitution prohibits a State income tax
