It really burned me up on the 2nd episode of True Detective season 3 when the teacher referred Arkansas to U of A.

Why? U of A is not considered Alabama all over the country. Ever been to an Arizona basketball game or football game? One of their main cheers is "U of A! U of A!". In Arkansas, when people ask you or where your child goes to college, most just say U of A if they went to/go Arkansas, and not person says, "Oh, Alabama?". Just like in Texas, UT is considered the University of Texas, but in Tennessee, UT is considered University of Tennessee.
