He was nowhere near as good of a passer as Fromm was, and under normal circumstances would be expected to ride the bench and come hand it off in mop up duty like every other Freshman backup QB.

Kirby promising Fields the world to sign with Georgia doesn’t make it Chaney’s fault for not risking it with the obviously inferior QB.

OMG. OK. Check this out.

Jake From first 44 Passes: 26/44 59% 2TD 1INT || Rusing (whole season): 55 for 79 yrds 3TD

Justin Fields only 39 passes: 27/37 69% 4TD 0INt || Rushing: 42 for 266 4TD

Trevor Lawrence first 43 passes: 26/43 60% 5TD 1INT || Rusing: 60 for 184 Yrds 1 TD

This isn't about how good he was to start. This is about maximizing the kids potential so he can get the reps to earn the position. He was much better at every single thing you do on the football field than From at the start of their careers. There's no reason to believe he wouldn't have developed faster than Fromm given the opportunity. UGA never gave him that chance to develop into someone who could earn the starting spot so he's gone.

Fields four throwing touchdowns this season came against App State, Middle Tennesssee, and UMass. Not really quality competition.

And what CHANCES should Fields have been GIVEN? He didn’t have Spring, Summer, and Fall practices like everyone else to develop?
