Back in the early 00's some older Ags told me that Jackie made it over the hump in Aggieland by taking high school QBs in Texas and making them play LB instead. That helped build up the roster and get the wins needed to eventually recruit actual LBs that played that position in high school.

It sucks that all the kids in the state only want to score touchdowns, seems like there is a lot of talent out there to convert.
