We’re losing at least 4 receivers this year. He’d have every opportunity to get on the field here as he would at West Virginia. Let’s just call it how it is, Billy G and Greg Knox can’t recruit for shite. It’s time to stop making excuses for their horrendous recruiting ability.

He’d have opportunity at UF, it’s guaranteed playing time at WVU.

Well what a shite day. Mullen needs to wake up. He looked mad in his interview, hoping that anger gets him going. Fire Knox immediately. His failures are unacceptable

Same deal with Pittman last year.

He might start at wideout this year for WVU, he'd be a slot at best here and if Grimes or Toney stay he might only be in the two deep.

Especially how we use TEs.

If Zipperer starts to improve even he might move out to slot.

Damn, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?
Good day overall. Lost no flips, good class with room to grow some more over the next few weeks. Chill, it's only a recruiting class, it's Christmas, there are more important things in life.

It's not even that bad, especially considering the transfer portal these days, and Mullen has been absolute fricking fire with transfers. Just to name a few:

Van Jefferson.
Trevon Grimes.
Greenard.
Cox. (Georgia)
Pouncey. (Texas)

We'll be fine as long as we keep getting transfers like that.

Naw. Our class is almost sure to finish worse than last year in average ranking and position. All offseason we heard 2020 was our year to leap forward.

We didnt. We only have 2 top 100 players. That is not good enough. That is dog shite compared to LSU, Georgia, Bama, Clemson, OSU classes.

This has to get fixed. We are not winning national titles with 2 top 100 player classes. No one has, no one will. Frustrated as all hell. This is a good class, but way to far behind an elite class. We arent catching up to the elite programs until we remotely recruit like them.

Pouncey is a three star who did nothing last year. He isnt on that list of proven players yet.

We need to go hard after WRs in the transfer portal.

I’m not sticking up for him. Just saying kids are… kids. Coaches need to close the deal on recruits as well as coach them up. If they can’t do both well then they better do one GREAT.

If not then CDM needs to cut the fat and try it again with someone else.

We are literally recruiting better than Clemson recruited over the past 5 years not including this year's class which will be #1.

For the past five years they recruited at an average of 10.6, which means that Mullen has been in that area.

If you guys want to slit your wrists over this like we haven't been looking night and day better than McElwain and Muschamp and are now signing top tier QBs which are more important to success than even recruiting then you guys need to log off and chill the frick out.

Look at the last few years of Champions:

Tua.
Burrow. (Premature, but still.)
Lawrence.

Even this year look who is in the Playoff: Lawrence, Hurts, Burrow, Justin Fields.

All are elite QBs. We just happen to have a guy who can turn a lifelong benchwarmer into a top 3 SEC QB.

frick I hate those podcasts who need to add like five caveats every episode to try and justify why Mullen is coming up short in recruiting.

"Yeah it's about a top 5 recruiting class." "But Clemson."

"Okay, it's about signing x amount of blue chips." "But our blue chip ratio is well over 50%"

"Okay, it's about signing top 100 players."

The goalposts are in the stands at this point.

Elite Coaching + Superior (not elite) Recruiting + Elite QB = Best path to championship.

Alabama who regularly recruits Top 3 classes? Out my guy.

Georgia who regularly recruits Top 3 classes? Out my guy.

USC? (#4) Didn't make it.

Florida State? (#6) Oops.

Texas? (#7) Kek.

Relax. Please.

Outside of Copeland, our best WRs are all three stars except for Freshman.

That is scary bad.

It's not all positions. It's a few. Which is enough to not win a title.

Break down the roster.

Qb Room- Great not sure if any elite but certainly strong

RB- average - Pierce is good, not elite, and his back ups are ehh for an SEC team

TE - Loaded

WR- If Toney and Grimes leave? Worst position on the team. Who is the second best. Three star Marks??

Oline - Great depth, but wait and see so good

Dline - Great

Lbers - Great I believe

Safeties - Good - William's could jump this up
5
CBs - Great but not elite. Missing those elite prospects from the past. Elam is very strong, but I wouldnt call him close to Vernon level right now.

The issue isnt every position, but it is enough positions. These continued missed turn us from elite, to very good/great.

The issue is you need elite to win titles, and well the SEC.

I think next year we have a great chance if pieces fall in place right, but it's still an uphill battle when other teams have more talent at most positions. Just imagine Bowman is Pierce back up. That is now an elite position. Imagine landing two more top 100 dline. Now its elite. Imagine adding Webb with Wingo and last years class. That's an elite group.

We are close, but these continued misses on the top tier talent are going to hurt title chances.

"We want to win National Championships" is just a sign of the psychotic nature of the Florida fan base that Mullen's wife was talking about. Holy frick, we just had two straight years with NY6 bowls and a shot at an 11 win season.

We are literally recruiting at a better clip than Clemson did in its title run. You guys seriously just need something to bitch and moan about for months on end every single year and no matter what Mullen produces we seem to be here, still bitching and moaning.

It's one position, few teams actually recruit so well that they don't have a single position with problems and even if they do -- two of our best receivers were transfers.

Our best receiver last year was a fricking Tight End.

Seriously, you guys need to take a break. Log off, hang out, have some fun until our second consecutive NY6 bowl. Just stop wringing your hands so much about recruiting and stop grumbling about National Championships.

It's not like Kirby doesn't have a top 3 recruiting average and can't stop himself from getting blown out at least once a year.

I'm perfectly content, and know that if we come up short at Receiver there will be talent in the portal that we can pursue. We won't be playing true freshman at the position, anyway, so this incessant whining is all but useless.

I only kind of care about the rankings. The key is this staff similar to the last one keeps missing on the targets they themselves deem to be their number 1 target on their board.

That is concerning.

But hard to complain about a class with 16 4 stars and a bunch of talent in the trenches. Before nsd they just need to close with a good wr, good rb, and another dL and hopefully an elite safety.

They do that and despite the dud yesterday they’ll be fine.

Boom! A lot of the Gator fan base is the most negative, unrealistic, band wagon jumping bunch of people outside RTR.
Top 10 class, room to grow before NSD. 2 straight 10+ win seasons, 2 straight NY6 bowls.

ESD itself was a bust on announcements. Very bad optics.

We were battling Saban and Jimbo for their committed players and we lost.

A lot of the recruiting people totally discount who you already have committed and actually sign. Not losing anyone on signing day is a big deal. Everyone who was supposed to sign with UF did.

Everyone wants big time signing day flip but the week before we flipped a Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia commit.

Ahmed Black just called my store. Holy shite such a cool guy he stopped in about a month and a half ago. He interestingly enough when mentioning yesterday added unique perspective from someone who knows some inside. He claimed we had all our eggs in one basket at RB and lost it, and he thought we panicked. Apparently Scott who handles Lakeland was sure on a certain prospect and when it failed to pass we hadn't been aggressive enough on others.

Take from that what it is. He said he wants the Michigan WR to come here that tore us up a few years ago(believe its Tarik Black).

So hey. Maybe it's not all Knox fault on the RB side. Least he didnt seem to think so. Sounded decently mad about how the class closed though.

He is such a nice dude btw. He apparently recruits work places and helps people find jobs.

The issue is we finished 6th in the SEC man...that just isn't going to be good enough. Clemson has six five stars this class. We have to beat that type of team to win a title, and we aren't adding the same level of talent. Which means we have to develop and coach better than elite staffs to match their talent on the field. That's why it's a concern. We need those big gets occasionally. 2 a year isn't enough. We need 5-7 a year.

Loved Black when he was at UF. My favorite player.

He is going to know the truth about Lakeland and Bowman.

Bowman seemed a slam dunk at this point last year. Part of Knox's job is to develop a relationship with the key RB recruit.

The staff put all of their eggs into the Sanders basket last year too.

Scott being the Lakeland guy was good last cycle but not this cycle.
