In 1976, Bowden inherited a FSU team that had just gone 0-11, 1-10, and 3-8. Bowden wanted to get FSU into the arena with the big boys. Did he whine and complain about a "broken system"? Did he demand home-and-home games with the powerhouses of the day? No.

Danny White is 38 years old. Bowden game him the blueprint for how to achieve national respect and become one of the elites. All White has to do is swallow his pride and follow it.

Yeah it took a lot of lumps and 15 years of that exposure and barnstorming to gain elite status. UCF has no desire for that kind of growing pain, they just want to claim it all now based on nothing
