Spot on. Heard the exact same thing in an interview with him. Said he wanted the job and would take it, but felt like he had proven himself as coach and would not interview. They flew him up for what he thought was a formality of acceptance and they had a panel waiting to interview him.

Years later heard Terry Bowden say that him/Tommy/Jeff/their mom all went to the Galleria in B'ham and was buying all kind of Bama garb at the mall because "diddy" was getting the job.

Bobby said he flew home and first thing he did was call them and tell them thanks, but no thanks. Told you I wouldn't interview.
