Ohio really wants to be the South. Rebel flags everywhere, sweet tea everywhere, "southern BBQ" joints everywhere

The rebel flag stuff from people that are from the Midwest is cringey. Never understood why they did it. Yes, even in central Indiana you get those people. I went to high school with a quaker who's family had lived in the area for decades. Wore a rebel flag shirt that said "its not hate its heritage". Pretty stupid

there are video stores. Remember those? They still have them.

There are a few still floatin around in Indiana but not many. And the ones that are, are hurting. One I saw last time I was back was renting out part of its space

All these towns have their nice little town squares, rows of old Colonials right in the middle of town. Beautiful old churches. Half of it is decrepit. To be honest I bet this was one of the nicest places in America to live ...50-100 years ago

That's weird. Don't really think of Indiana having any Confederate heritage - even though I guess some of the folks who lived in the very southern part of the state could have.

I have an ancestral line that runs back to the late 1700s in Vincennes (ancestor got a land grant for fighting with George Rogers Clark). All of the Civil War soldiers in that line were Union, and I just assumed most areas of Indiana would have been the same at that time.

When I lived in MN I saw rebel flags fairly often. "You guys" are pretty much canadians, eh...

Also, Tim hortons ain't great, but krispy kreme is supremely overrated as well.
