Irony: the state of Alabama has three or more composite 5 stars for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time in Saban's tenure and Bama is not getting one of them :-) but could end with the number one class and possibly the greatest class on paper in the 247 composite era at least in terms of points. Though we all know that trying to put that fine a point on rankings and points is pointless. Nevertheless, likely a very good class. (IMO, 2017 is Bama's best I've seen: Tua, Wills, Leatherwood, Najee, Ruggs, Jeudy, D. Smith, McKinney, Ray, Mathis, Buggs, Moses with several others already making smaller contributions with more to follow.)
Nix - no chance, Dad a former AU QB.
Pickens - not that interested, then interested but spooked by academics since so many other options and needs. IMO, he's not a Bama type receiver especially in terms of speed, quickness and ability to separate. Great ball skills and size.
Webb - Alabama wanted but was just beaten primarily by Pittman a good recruiter and coach with UGA being a good landing spot. Who really knows what other factors came into play, often times, including the recruit himself. IMO, Bama has not been a serious contender for a while. It was UGA comfortably with Clemson over Bama as the runner-up.
Just shows that even though there are trends and conventional wisdom in the main, in reality, each recruit and set of circumstances is unique.
