Any must eat at places you can share?
Also, I’ll be there next Thursday through Sunday. Anything I should do while in town?

Thanks. I think there was a burger place that someone mentioned too.
I'll give it a try.

Booches for burgers. Flatbranch for craft beer and good food. You can find pretty much anything you'd like downtown. Enjoy your stay.

Thanks a bunch.
I have another decision to make.
Thursday drive from STL to Columbia. Friday meeting.
Friday drive back to STL, go to Lake of the Ozarks, or stay in Columbia or other?
Suggestions?

LOTO is pretty this time of the year, but there's really not much going on in the offseason. Personally, I would just stay in StL. Lots to do and see over there.

Let us know how it is. Its always interesting to go to a new town and try the locals favorite spots.
Though sometimes you get what I found when I went to Destin a while back and asked what the best seafood place was. All the locals steered me to Red Lobster of all places. And they were right. It was much better food then the tourist traps.

Tourist trap food sucks.
You have to find the hidden gems in trap towns.
Booches was not what I expected.
A pool hall with a flat grill basically. The burgers were cooked with just a tad of char/crisp. Thats my favorite way.
It was a wonderful burger. No fries. Just chips so be prepared.

In the vastly unlikely event you are ever in Memphis swing across the river to Marion, Arkansas and I'll treat you to Tacker's Shake Shack "John Wayne Burger".

At logboat brewery now.
Cool little place but the IPA is weak. Not very hoppy at all. Would be great for someone just starting to explore IPAs.
Never ate a Jack in the box so I did that for lunch due to time. Wasnt a bad burger.
Will hike a state park tomorrow to work all this off and prepare for st Louis food and drink.

I should have let you know what to expect at Booches. It’s a dive but that’s what makes it the shizz. Enjoy the park tomorrow. I assume you’re going to rock bridge. There’s some neat things there.
What area will you being staying in the Lou? I’ll try to gather you some suggestions for where you’ll be. If you’re downtown, a stop on the hill is mandatory. Italian neighborhood an great eats to be found all over.
Stay south of Washington St. at night is a good rule of thumb if you’re traveling alone. I think the Blues have a home game tonight as well, so if you’ve never taken in a NHL game that might be an option.
ETA: if craft beer is what you like, StL is guaranteed to give you something to flute your flam. 4 Hands Brewing is on S. 8th street just off I-44 between downtown and the Soulard neighborhood, 1200 block I think, is the shite. There’s a ton of brew pubs there so pull up a stool.

I'm staying near the Arch. Going to do a quick zoo visit, arch visit and then explore.
I'll take all suggestions.
Tuesday I leave for 2 days in Ft. Wood. I'm thinking there's just not much there but if there is...let me know.
I did broadway diner for breakfast. Total dive with a very grumpy old lady behind the counter, 1 pleasant middle aged lady and a pleasant young man. The cooking crew though...yikes. One dude had horns in his ears.
None of them wash their hands enough. My guy put his hands in the bus tub and moved dirty dishes, wiped his hands with a towel and then continued serving food.
OK breakfast. It was one of those places that I just thought I had to do.
Went to see the columns. Very cool. Tried to find my fraternity house but couldn't. Thinking they got kicked off.
Change of plans. Headed to Lake of the Ozarks. Will do lunch there and then hustle back for football and stupid paperwork in the hotel.

Haha the diner.
If you hit the strip at the lake Casablanca has good pizza. There’s an oyster joint across the road. Tucker’s Shuckers.

Lambda Chi Alpha here. Circa mid nineties. Have a safe drive to StL. Enjoy the city there’s so much good about it to get the bad wrap on this board.
Ft Wood area, look for the elbow inn if it’s open. Dive/biker/soldier bar on the bank of the big piney river. Neat place that I never skip when I’m there in the area. Grab a six pack of piney river brewing black walnut wheat beer. Thank me later.
