I guess they thought Fields wasn't ready. But the time is very close when Kirby needs to throw him into the fire. It might be ugly at first, but he's making choices right now that affect more than just this season. Fromm's stats this season looked good prior to Saturday, but if you watched him play he's regressed since the last half of 2017. I don't know what to expect vs UF, but something has to change.

Personally, I think Kirby kind of fumbled the QB race.
Now, before you jump on me -- I don't think Eason should have been thrown in the garbage that fast. I think for that game Saturday, a run-option with Fields would have worked completely, but since right now you guys only have two scholarship Quarterbacks, it's impossible to run that type of offense without severe consequences for an injury.
THAT is where I think he fumbled it. If it were up to me, I absolutely would have taken a three-star Dual QB just in case. Fields can't run his type of offense because if he goes down, Fromm literally has no back up. This is a serious conundrum, and personally, I think a rookie coaching error.
Maybe Fromm is night and day better than Eason, but I don't think this was the year the Dogs could afford to have only two scholarship QBs considering just how many defensive players are still adjusting to the system.
