Will nubs ever be relevant again?

Doubt it. They have as much to naturally recruit from as us.
Or less.
We play games in GA, FL, and sometimes TX. The SEC has a footprint in more important states than nubs had in their heyday. As the relevant conferences and conferences get fewer, kids are picking places other than the great plains. ku, ksu, and the nubs have the dame problem. They are geopgraphically boring and they have no chance to really win again.
Mizzou gets a few years to prove its mettle since they have one the division 2 out of the 5 they were in and seem relevant again this year.
The nubs will end up like the great Minnesota teams of the 30s and 40s or notre dame. No longer relevant.

They have a huge fan base and big-time stadium and facilities. They have enough support to at least recruit better than most B1G teams. They'll never be the Nubs of the 70s to 90s again, but they'll be good some years.

They should win the West,it is terrible.
Problem is I don't think they can compete with Ohio St,Penn St, and Michigan.

Who the frick wants to go play ball in NE these days? Middle of nowhere. That state is a cow pasture.
Boring. I’d know. Loved there all through HS.
Other programs are getting better. Oregon is a place to play these days. UCF is relatively relevant with great weather and things to do.
Missouri’s advantage is SEC exposure and playing real powerhouses of talent. More eyes.

No, their program is dead and will rot in the pit of misery

That’s what people thought about UCF when Frost took over.

UCF doesn't play in a conference with blue bloods.
Nebraska won't sniff a National Title again.

They won’t even sniff a NY6 bowl.

I don’t know about that. Mizzou twice came within a game of the championship with Pinkel. If Frost is on that level as a coach they definitely have a chance. What I doubt Nebraska does is dominate the way it did in the 80’s and 90’s.

They will field solid teams from time to time. Wouldn't be surprised if they play in the playoffs or its equivalent some day but those seasons will be sporadic and not over extended periods like before.

It's a bunch of bullshite. They get to spend a couple decades racking up easy wins cause we quit trying and now when they suck we don't get to play them. Same with kansas.
Instead, we traded in the old great red team for a potential new great red team
. That game was so confusing I can't even tell if we have made progress other than we kept competitively playing all four quarters.

I? think Missouri has a real opportunity to be a perennial top 10 / 20 team if it can win this year and start flexing the ‘ we are the best program in the Midwest by far attitude / selling points to recruits / corporate investors. Think about how terrible nearly every other Midwest team is right now. Oklahoma is only good/great program with Iowa being pretty tough while Ferentz is still there. kU, NE, CU, Minn, ISU, ILL, Ark, Ten, Kstate, Ok.st, even Michigan and sparty look pretty weak.
My point being- we have tremendous opportunity to sell to whole region both in recruiting and advertising/donations. We need need a really good year this year and a huge push by staff / admin / boosters. Now is our time.

Sadly, it seems oklahoma and ohio state are the strongest teams in the midwest. But that's it. it will be tough to out recruit them to build a powerhouse. but they can only recruit 25-30 guys each year. If we can be the third best we can win consistently. But we are not even close to 3rd best in recruiting. We need to put together several 10 win seasons.

I? agree with all except that we would need several 10 win seasons. I? think we need to win this year, use the new facilities and make that push right now. A lot really rides on this year being a 9 / 10 win season. I? know that is a lot of pressure but we need to ‘step on the throats’ of the programs that are down right now. If we finish second in east and win the bowl game leading to at least 9 wins there should be no reason a struggling NE team, that has to travel to Minn and Iowa and Michigan to play football should outcompete us regularly for recruits. Same with Arkansas / Tenn / all the others mentioned as well.
I? feel that right now is our window of opportunity and it may close quickly if we don’t take advantage and jump.
