I remember that game like it was yesterday. Huge buildup all off season and then the week before .... tons of taterheads took the week off to go. Made a holiday out of it.
That beating and the one the Gamecocks gave them later in the season set them on a path of cheating the likes of which college football had rarely known.
Five years later they would win a MNC and the year after that they would be on probation.
