Tyson Foods Inc. TSN 0.49% has agreed to buy Keystone Foods, a major supplier of chicken nuggets to McDonald’s Corp. and other companies, for $2.16 billion as part of its strategy to bolster its protein offerings and expand globally.

Tyson, the largest U.S. meat supplier by sales, said Monday it will finance the purchase of Keystone from Brazil’s Marfrig Global Foods MRFG3 -0.96% with cash and new debt.
