Colonel Reb was not done away with for purely PC reasons. The athletic department was getting killed on the recruiting trail by other SEC teams use in our mascot against us Numerous recruits are on the record as saying they were leaning toward Ole Miss until school X (always another SEC team) told them about Colonel Reb and what he represented. It was a no brainer And our recruiting has improved since then.

Recruiting may have picked up for other reasons too. Didn't the NCAA just give Ole Miss a visit and point put some problems?

So basically, you went out of your way to say that it was strictly for PC reasons.
