I don't get why this keeps being a thing. Hurts just beat Clemson and the #1 team in the county the week before. He's 27-2 as a starter.
Yes, Bama probably would have won by more if he started. Maybe not. Either way they have the National Championship trophy, and we don't.

Hurts was definitely not the reason they beat Clemson
