Scanning some game of the year lines yesterday and one really jumped out at me. South Carolina catching 12.5 vs UGA. Seems like a lot points in a match up that seems to play closer than what talent might indicate. Thoughts?

Most of us agree. They are getting too many points. It's normally a very close game.

Definitely seems like a lot of points, but it’s not like the game has been close in the last 3 seasons.

FWIW, when we pick our spread winners I’m almost sure to take SC.

I would've set it at UGA -3.5 or 4

Whoever set it at 12.5 is inebriated. All the money should go on S.C.

We will win this game by at least 10, that line is jacked up.

It seems like a game where the dog generally covers is what I should have said.

That also might be what Vegas wants, which would be a good sign for Georgia.

Given this is the real first game for each team and UGA/Fromm's major success from just a season ago, I'm not sure they could get enough action on SC by not making it double digits. Most outside of the SEC probably aren't ready to buy SC as a legit threat to UGA.

Here's the thing I've learned in my limited gambling experience over the decades. It's my one true gambling rule.

If everyone says something is a sure thing ... go the other way. Just follow that rule and you'll win more times than not. Sit back and watch what is happening. Are everyone on the message boards guaranteeing someone will cover?

Then, go the other way.

But what you have to watch is how the line moves.

It was UGA -14.5 not long ago. Now it's down to -12.5 so it's not like it opened at -12.5. Now that .5 is looking like a great big hook.

Vegas has its biggest issues with early games like this one ... a border battle that has somewhat of a sense of an innerdivisional rivalry that means a lot for both teams this season. Either could survive a loss, but UGA has the most to lose on the road in a well-known hostile environment.

I wouldn't touch this game with a nickle glued on the end of a ten foot pole.

It will be a 4th straight double digit loss for USCjr

UGA is too talented and this isn’t a Richt regime anymore.

Should be a good battle for 2nd place in the East.

Exactly why it might be a sucker bet. Set it up so everyone bets on the dog and then bam, Vegas wins big with the fave covering.

We are undefeared under Muschamp against teams from Georgia in P5 openers.

Maybe you should finish this coming year first before you start claiming things like this

Concur with everyone. This seems like a favorable line for a bet on SCAR

It’s Kirby’s 3rd year and another best down is looming. Bookmark it.

With our Oline and your undersized Dline, we might attempt less than 15 passes.

That line is probably spot on based on UGA talent and the last 3 years.

Where is the USCe hype coming from? And I like USCe. I know this sounds crazy coming from a LSU fan, but did they suddenly develop a QB?

^ this and they still have boom.

I think their fans think because the game is early in the year that we will have players suspended and that playing sandstorm will get into the players head.

Also, I think their optimism is hinging on a Spurrier comment made 10 years ago.
