First, I'm largely in agreement that it's far to question the experience of the defense overall... but with that said...
But if you put that in context, you have a Safety that started essentially the entire season in Reed who was an unknown going into last year as a transfer.
Agreed... You definitely lose experience... *but* one of them is a guy that was constantly questioned going into last year in terms of can he put together production that equals the expectations that he had (Zo), and the other who had been a better than serviceable OLB, but not a huge producer. Deandre Walker was arguably the most disruptive pass rusher of the 3, but perhaps less versatile.
No question here. Single biggest loss IMO, as he was the glue that made a lot of things work. The question isn't can someone fill his shoes, but rather can they get 2 guys who can work together as a unit to provide enough production to not be a liability. Can Natrez keep his head on straight?
Again, Dre Baker was not considered our best CB going into last season, he was largely unproven and sort of developed the reputation through the year. Functionally it's not that the Sophomore is replacing the SR, it's that Dre Baker is sliding into that more experienced role and now a less proven individual will inherit his former level of experience.
We think a lot about the piece that's changing sometimes without accounting for the growth of the personnel that didn't change.
I'm more concerned with the DL experience lost with John John Atkins than I am several of the other positions.

In that respect I think I’d be more concerned if we didn’t bring in Jay Hayes as a grad transfer
