Interesting stats on LSU's performance in Death Valley (hint, they're pretty good there)

A lot of people have pointed out over the years that the aura of Death Valley can be a bit overstated. And, that is probably true. However, it is interesting to note that LSU does not get blown out or even comfortably beaten at Death Valley very often - even by really good teams. And that is in a time period completely after their championship teams. Now, they have had some all time doper performances (2014 Mississippi State, 2015 Arkansas, 2017 Troy).......but when a team comes in ranked and gets focus, it's generally a war.

Games vs (point and time) Top 25 teams since 2010
2010 vs #22 West Virginia - 20-14 (W)
2010 vs #5 Alabama - 24-21 (W)
2011 vs #17 Florida - 41-11 (W)
2011 vs #19 Auburn - 45-10 (W)
2011 vs #3 Arkansas - 41-17 (W)
2012 vs #3 South Carolina - 23-21 (W)
2012 vs #1 Alabama - 21-17 (L) (4 pt margin)
2012 vs #22 Mississippi St - 37-17 (W)
2013 vs #17 Florida - 17-6 (W)
2013 vs #9 Texas A&M - 34-10 (W)
2014 vs #3 Ole Miss - 10-7 (W)
2014 vs #4 Alabama - 20-13 (L) (7 pt margin) (OT)
2015 vs #18 Auburn - 45-21 (W)
2015 vs #8 Florida - 35-28 (W)
2016 vs #23 Ole Miss - 38-21 (W)
2016 vs #1 Alabama - 10-0 (L) (10 pt margin)
2016 vs #21 Florida - 16-10 (L) (6 pt margin)
2017 vs #10 Auburn - 27-23 (W)

Since 2010 LSU is 14-4 against ranked teams and 14-1 against ranked teams not named Alabama in Death Valley. Their 4 losses are by 4, 7, 10 and 6 pts. They are 7-3 against Top 10 teams (6-0 against non Alabama Top 10 teams).

It's tough to win there and Georgia, Mississippi State and Alabama are going to have to win wars to come out of there with a W.

Alabama, historically speaking, is somehow immune to the voodoo magic cast by their fans.

They'll play 1 or maybe 2 non-Alabama Top 10-15 teams there this season too, though (Georgia, Mississippi State).

why copy Clemson though? Deaf Valley would have been fine (what it was originally called)

Literally has nothing to do with the topic of this thread. I also don't care.

Count me as not worried about this game and what they did against Mississippi State in 2012 doesn't really matter to me in that regard.

I'm always worried about that game down there. Any game that is probably going to come down to 1 or 2 possessions in the 4th quarter is a game you can figure out a way to lose, and almost all of our games down there do that. Even games against their teams that aren't elite (2012, 2014, 2016).

What would make you think this is a 1 possession game? Im never a super Homer but I just don't see anything about LSU to make me think they're close to our level.

With that said, burrow is the variable since we don't know anything about him yet. If he proves to be legit then all bets are off

Because they'll be very good on defense. This team looks almost identical to all their 10-3 type teams of the last 10 years. And those teams always play above their already good head defensively against us. Their program mentality (since Miles took over) is built on emotional build up for big games, which turns out solid performances in those big home games and giant let downs in non-emotional games.

Might not happen to Georgia too, I have no idea. I fully expect it against us, though.

Thanks George....it’s nice to see other fan bases acknowledge other teams accomplishments.

We beat up on each other so much.

I mean, they're 14-1 against Top 25 teams not named Alabama over that period.

Obviously Alabama has to be excluded to do much bragging though

Reason #1 - This will be at no worse the second best "D" uga will play all season. Might even be the best.

Reason #2 - games is in tiger stadium.

The same venue the mighty Troy Trojans whooped up on LSU less than 11 months ago. But yeah I mean the new oc will surely turn y'all into contenders.

We have quite a bit more talent, more proven winners, and FAR better coaching. I don't think a day game in br with a half empty stadium by the 4th quarter is much to sweat about. Sue me.

You should be confident in your team but you’re making a mistake thinking UGA will see that same Defense Troy did.
