OU had a invite to the sec but wanted to be in a more prestigious academic conference like the Big 10. I remember half the fans saying go to the sec and others wanted the Big 10. I don’t think we was every offered membership or put in a request to move to the Big 10 becuase Texas and OU thought pac 12 might be a better fit. In the end it all worked out OU stayed put and even though the conference is smaller than the others it still packs a punch. Revenue has never been better we are averaging more than all schools when you count the tier three rights, believe they said OU gets 5-8 mil off of them and the distributions for the rest was at 37 mil per school. Football is getting better and it showed in bowl games over last few years. Basketball is the Big 12 has become one of the best and last year was a excellent year. Trust me if OU wanted to come A@M wouldn’t be standing in our way .... votes or not. Really it wouldn’t be fair to other conferences if OU and let’s say TEXAS or OSU came..... they would have to give the sec to automatic bids to the playoff, because if you finished in the top and won the conference you would be without a doubt the best team that year and the second place team would probably be a close second.
