He should fit in better than Muschamp. If he can recruit well against UM and FSU he may do well.

The problem with that is Taggert and Richt are excellent recruiters, and FSU and UM both have recruiting headspace in Florida.

He might make it work (hire crackerjack recruiters for his staff), but the teams Florida considers its real rivals: FSU, LSU, Alabama, Georgia all have superb recruiting staffs (LSU ought to have an asterisk, but eventually someone will replace "Big O").

Who knows maybe he does have a coaching edge against some of those teams, but definitely not against Alabama (and probably Georgia - Kirby has the smarts, but I dunno still about him making it hit the road).

So we'll see. His offense is hard to stop if he has the right kind of qb though.

Boom had to learn anlkt while at Florida .... but let's be honest, he also inherited an Urbie-leftovers shite show.

Mullen has done a better job assembling a staff in his first year at UF than did mUSChamp. But Mullen cannot recruit like Boom can recruit ... although Boom has openly admitted that he was not focused enough on recruiting guys on the offensive side of the ball and it's a mistake he has vowed to never make again.

I think a lot of how well Mullen does will be based on ...

Taggart at FSU.
How well Kirby does head-to-head.
How well mUSChamp does head-to-head.
How Mullen fares against LSU and Tennessee.

Those first three though ... those are direct personality tests for Mullen. Those three, I think at least, will be used as gauges by the fans.

FSU because of the in state rivalry.

Kirby because of the DSOR.

Boom because ... well, UF fires Boom and no way in hell does any UF fans wanna see Boom outperform Mullen head-to-head. Although, I believe there actually are some UF fans who will pull for Boom when he is not playing UF and most especially when Boom is playing UGA and UT.

But anyways, this Mullen at UF gig is going to be interesting to watch. Non of us wanna see UF lose their MoJo like UT did. UT sorta had it coming. UF makes the division and the conference better ... we need UF very very competitive.
