AU beat out CLEM, ND, MICH & NCST. Expected to play a hybrid FB/TE role in AU's offense. Somehow AU has 2 pretty solid TEs committed this class.

I love the pick-ups, for sure, but we know how well Gus Malzahn has utilized tight ends post-Phillip Lutzenkirchen.

Does Saban utilize his TEs? Who has Bama had worth a shite besides OJ Howard? Lutz caught twice as many TDs at Auburn as Howard did at Bama. Howard was a 5* freak that could have gone to Samford and been a 1st rounder. The ultimate red zone mismatch and he only caught 7 TDs in 4 years

Can someone post the number of combined catches the Auburn tight ends have accumulated from 2013-present day.

He's supposed to be a quality kid. I think Boom would have gone after him maybe were it not that we are so loaded at TE right now. We've taken a ton of kids out of Greenwood over the years ... they play good football up there.

2013: 12
2014: 13
2015: 0
2016: 2
2017: 4
Since Phillip Lutzenkirchen left Auburn, they have averaged 4.2 catches per season.
Thankfully, Luke Deal is nasty in the blocking game and looks like he could make a really good h-back with good hands.

It's baffling at the lack of production or even commitment to throw the ball to the TE over the years. There isn't another power 5 team more committed to running in between the tackles as AU is and that should mean that the TE should have tons of catches. Lutz had a lot of TDs but even he was vastly underused. The top TE should have at least 30 receptions in am offense that runs as much as AU's.
