I was referring to quality of life. There is no comparison between Louisville the city and Starkville the city.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in both places, I can say that you've never been to Starkville. If you have, it was 20 years ago, or it wasn't long enough to make a fair assessment of the place. People are going to have preferences between big cities or small towns. But to say that quality of life in Starkville doesn't measure up is a joke. Especially to Louisville.

Everyone likes to crap on Starkville. I usually let it slide because it's just ignorance, because they don't know any better.

Yup. I live in Arlington, VA. I prefer Starkville.

All the window lickers in this thread referencing locale as a main reason for a head baseball coach to make his decision

OK, so every program in the SEC would lose their coach to Pepperdine or Hawaii, or Colorado State? Would they not prefer to live in those places? Who wouldn't?

Manieri came to LSU from Notre Dame. Y'all think he preferred Baton Rouge/New Orleans to South Bend/Chicago? He jumped at the chance to guide an elite program in the elite conference for baseball.

Don't downplay the importance that MSU places on its baseball program. That goes a long way when luring a coach.

Not to mention, McDonnell grew up in a small town in NY and coached at Ole Miss for 5 years before getting the job at Louisville. I don't think the small town vs big town thing is all that important to him. And when you're talking about major programs, where they are generally doesn't matter. You think Nick Saban cared he was going to be in Tuscaloosa? The program itself matters a whole lot more than where it is.
