I still think A&M has an incredibly high ceiling, but they still hover near the floor right now.

They have been taking the right steps. Building the infrastructure etc. But at some point in the next few years, they have to start delivering or that momentum will be lost. A&M needs to be competing for the SEC West soon.

And Jimbo needs to be the perfect hire. If he is not, the program will be set back quite a bit. I know this is probably unpopular but true -- A&M needs to capitalize while Texas is still down. I am not sure how much longer Texas will be down.

Agreed. You want to strike while the iron is hot. And its white hot right now. There is still enough talent for A&M to get good players while Texas is doing well, but TCU is also doing well. Houston doesn't suck. LSU likes to raid the area. Arkansas is devoting itself to recruiting the area more heavily.

The competition is starting to get better when it comes to recruiting so you want to turn the corner before it becomes a real battle to land top recruits.

Meh. Like Auburn (sorry, it's true), they will always be the inferior, B-School in the state.
