But two of those NCs were a result of losing at home in November. Under the old system you did get a mulligan after those types of loses. FSU would lose to Miami in early Oct and be out of the race.

Isn't that the case with Alabama this past season?

In the 20 national Champions who have been crowned since the BCS era, half have lost at least one game during the regular season.
