I still strongly disagree with this.

You can't simulate game reps.
And game reps allow him to focus his practice reps more specific to areas that he needs improvement.

The 2nd string qb has to be ready. We were fortunate that Fromm was ready last season. That isn't normal for a true freshman. It used to take a QB an entire offseason after his first season to show proficiency. I know kids are more advanced these days out of high school. But they still need to learn how to handle a blitz or blown assignment or mistake on the defense that can be exploited for a TD.
